The U.S. Global Leadership Campaign is a broad-based, nationwide coalition of businesses, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and community leaders that advocates for a strong U.S. International Affairs Budget.
Members of the USGLC - a vibrant, influential network of 400 organizations and thousands of individuals - engage policy-makers in the nation's capital and educate the public around the country to build support for these essential programs.
The International Affairs Budget provides America with the fundamental tools to meet the global challenges of the 21st century and is critical to protecting our national security, building economic prosperity, and strengthening humanitarian values.
Qualification:
Strong applicants will have an interest in international affairs and a working knowledge of the U.S. political process. Applicants must be willing to assist with all aspects of the USGLC, including administrative tasks. Graduate and undergraduate internships are available. Scheduling can be flexible to accommodate class schedules.
Interns assist in all aspects of the USGLC including, but not limited to:
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed. - Follow-up with members for various events and legislation updates. - Help to maintain an updated congressional and member contact database. - Attend Congressional hearings and events; summarize proceedings; track legislation. - Assist USGLC staff in mobilizing business and humanitarian membership to communicate to U.S. Congress at key times in budget/appropriations cycle. - Research domestic, economic, and security impacts of America's engagement abroad. - Learn about the Congressional Budget and Appropriations process, particularly as it pertains to funding America's foreign policy initiatives. - Organize and help plan USGLC events in DC. - Assist in developing an active nationwide grassroots movement.

Editorial Intern

Description:
The National Interest, a bimonthly magazine offering in-depth but accessible debate and commentary on today's critical foreign-policy issues, is now accepting applications for a semester-long internship. Interns will gain experience in all aspects of the publication process — from editing to research and publicity to production.
Responsibilities:
- Researching potential articles/authors and fact-checking submissions
- Maintaining media and other databases
- Supporting webmaster
- Assisting with issue layout
- Reviewing and copyediting articles
Qualification:- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program
- Experience with, or at minimum an interest in, international affairs and foreign-policy publications
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask within deadlines and work well with others

The Society for International Development (SID), a not-for-profit founded in Washington, D.C. in 1957, is a global forum of individuals and institutions concerned with sustainable economic, social, and political development. SID currently has members in 125 countries and over 65 local chapters worldwide – with the largest chapter in Washington, D.C. It works with more than 100 associations, networks, and institutions involving academics, parliamentarians, students, political leaders, and development experts, both at the local- and international- levels.
SID-Washington is committed to three principal objectives: 1) Stimulate dialogue and cooperation on global development issues 2) Enhance skills, knowledge and understanding among development practitioners 3) Provide a network for individuals and organizations working in various sectors of international development.
INTERNSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist in program development, such as with Chapter Programs featuring high-level panelists, workgroup programs, and Annual Conference and Annual Dinner; • Serve as a liaison with SID-Washington's more than 20 sectoral and regional workgroups; • Write about the Chapter's programs and workgroups activities to be published on our website • Assist with general office duties including: developing outreach materials and website; adding to and maintaining our database; planning and execution of events; General administrative duties (including answering phones, handling mail, drafting correspondence, etc.).
Qualification:
QUALIFICATIONS: • Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student or recent graduate; • Academic and/or work experience in international development; • Excellent written and oral communications skills; • Very strong organizational skills; • Possess initiative and the ability to work independently and as part of a small team; • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, Internet Research, etc.); • Strong interpersonal skills; • 30 hour minimum commitment per week, full days preferred; • Minimum 3-month commitment.
