FINCA International is a recognized leader in microfinance and the pioneer of the village banking methodology. Since 1984, FINCA has provided financial services to the world's lowest-income entrepreneurs so they can create jobs, build assets and improve their standard of living. An internship with FINCA’s Executive Office is a unique opportunity to learn about microfinance in general and to become familiar with current industry trends and best practices. FINCA is seeking interns for fall of 2008 to work on areas of high priority for FINCA’s Executive Office in Washington, DC, including: Policy, Strategic Initiatives, Research, and Customer Relationship Management. The internship is unpaid, may be completed for credit, and requires a commitment of at least 3 days per week. Fluency in a second language is highly desirable: Spanish, French, Russian, Arabic or Dari are preferred.

Internship description:
The Executive Office Intern position supports the Executive Office in a number of priority initiatives. EO Intern responsibilities include research on various issues facing the microfinance industry such as competitive analysis, innovative field training programs, strategy formation, and other special research projects as assigned. Interns may have the option of focusing more of their internship time on policy or research, depending on the need and nature of current projects. EO Interns will also take active roles in the following initiatives:
- Support of FINCA’s Client Assessment Fellowship and Data Analyst programs,
- Assist in the coordination of FINCA’s Annual Research Symposium,
- Identify/document FINCA best practices in a Best Practices Virtual Center,
- Drafting and updating of FINCA policies throughout FINCA network,
- Provide logistical and technical support of Executive Office projects.
