Latin America & the Caribbean Regional Hub Intern

Description

This is an unpaid internship that will begin in January 2009.

FINCA International is looking for an unpaid intern to support the Latin America & the Caribbean (LAC) regional hub for the spring of 2009.The main function of this role will be to support the implementation of the new financial tool and a new set of statistical information for the LAC region. The role also includes support for the region in terms of policy manuals and new initiatives like the translation of information required to fulfill the tasks. The intern’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

- Support implementation of the new monthly financial reporting tool for the LAC region;

- Assist Planning and Financial Analyst in linking financial reporting tool to in-country MIS system;

- Support Planning and Financial Analyst in analysis of affiliate actual performance versus targets;

- Assist region in the collection of information from affiliates on MIS system issues and requirements;

- Take responsibility for document management regarding FINCA’s policies and procedures;

- Support the Operating Systems Manager in the management of the Affiliate General Policies (AGP) Manual;

- Assist the launching of the Virtual Document Management System for the LAC region (a virtual internal clearinghouse for sharing microfinance resources);

- Review and organize documentation to include in the document management system;

- Support affiliates in revision of key documents;

- Review of hub and affiliate manuals to identify discrepancies, overlap and confusion between those manuals and the AGP Manual and make recommendations on how to make field and AGP Manual compatible;

- Support of other initiatives that would help professionalize the regional network.

Ideal profile:

- Graduate degree or candidate for a graduate degree;

- Interest and knowledge on microfinance issues;

- Excellent writing and editing skills;

- Strong research skills;

- Extensive computer skills (proficiency in Excel a plus);

- Ability to handle multiple tasks and within deadlines;

- Attention to detail;

- Strong organizational skills;

- Self-motivation;

- Proficiency in French or Spanish a plus;

- Willingness to travel
